The boat had gone down. I swam and swam with yet one ideaâ€to put such loathsomeness behind me. I saw something white on the water before me. I grasped itâ€climbed on it. It was this pontoon. Question: Discuss about the Use of IT in Business for Silver Chain Group. Answer: Introduction Silver Chain Group is an organization that has been set up in Australia and it works as a non-profit organization. It serves the people by arranging for and providing them with health and care services and has been working in the field since over 110 years in West Australia and over 120 years in South Australia. There are several regions in West and South Australia wherein the services of the organization are expanded (Silverchain, 2016). There are many other services that are also provided by the group for serving the people better. Requirement of IT for Silver Chain Group The staff and the volunteer base of Silver Chain Group are huge due to its presence and existence since so long. Currently, there are around 3000 members of staff and over 400 volunteers that are engaged with the organization and it serves close to 90,000 people on an yearly basis. The customers and people are associated with a lot of information and their respective records are still paper based in many regions. It leads to a lot of unnecessary effort for the members of staff for gathering of information and its storage is also an issue. Information storage and management is therefore one of the prime requirements from IT for the group. There are medical staff and team members that feel the need to communicate to the experts in certain situations and the overall communication architecture is also currently weak. It is therefore required by Silver Chain Group to include these components in their architecture (LeMay, 2014). Importance of IT for Business Survival As it has been highlighted earlier that there are many human resources engaged with the group along with a huge customer base and massive information clusters as well, it is required that IT tools are used and deployed in the Silver Chain Group. These tools will be important for the group as they will allow the staff members and volunteers to have the information available at their hands to serve the customers better. Also, the information that will be related with the community members will be required to be stored so that it may be accessed and reviewed later. IT tools such as Enterprise Data Management and Database Systems will make it easy to store and manage the information. Testing Testing will be required to apply the IT elements in the form of the web and mobile application in Silver Chain Group. It will be required because there may be many bugs or defects that may be present in the developed application code. It will therefore be necessary to carry out a procedure in which evaluations and validations are done so that there are faults and errors left. Absence of this step will lead to the occurrence of the defects while in use by the customers that will be difficult to rectify on an immediate basis and there will be performance issues that will come up (Softwaretestinghelp, 2016). Deployment and Maintenance The application code that will be tested and ensured of no bugs and defects shall be released and deployed to be used by the end users at Silver Chain Group. I think that the author, Dee Henderson, wrote this book very well. Henderson has an amazing way of showing the emotion f the characters she is portraying on her writings. I feel as though Henderson has a way of writing that warms your heart, making it seem like you are in the book too, or as though you are watching the story unfold around you. The new year is eighteen minutes away. Come kiss me awake in seventeen minutes. She blinked at that lazy suggestion, gave a quick grin, and dropped Benji on his chest. He opened one eye to look up at her as he settled his hand lightly on the kitten. Thats a no? She smiled. She was looking forward to dating him, but she was smart enough to know hed value more what he had to work at. For example when reading the above excerpt from the book, she writes it so hate you can mentally visualize Cassie sitting with Benji, her cat, on her chest and Jack asking her to kiss him awake for new years. You can really feel what Cassie is saying when she says that she was looking forward to dating Jack, but is making him work for it so he will value it more. I feel as though this book is an overall good read, it shows traces of how God is working in each of the main characters lives and how he is present in there hearts, but it is not in your face about God. The book was definitely a page turner, it took me about a day to read the 333 page book, I was hooked from about the third chapter and just could not put it down until I was finished. I think that this book would be a great book for young adults to read, the book is a really interesting book, and I would recommend any christian no matter where in there walk with God, to read this inspiring book about Jack OMalley, the main character in this book, and his family of seven orphaned and abandoned teens who became a family, and changed there sir to OMalley .

10 Tips for Website Organization and Flow †updated from 2009!

10 Tips for Website Organization and Flow – updated from 2009! I am almost ready to launch a new website for The Essay Expert, and I have learned a LOT along the way. I decided to write my blog on the topic, and, as a reference, went back to an article I wrote almost seven years ago about website organization and flow. I knew very little then, but did share a few important tips. While some things have changed, some things have stayed the same. Here is my updated list, and a preview of The Essay Expert’s new website! 1. Don’t have more than eight (8) top menu items in addition to the Home tab. With new menu formats, I’ve increased this number from six (6) in my original recommendation to eight (8). The menu items on my new site will be About, Testimonials, Services, DIY/eBooks, Media, Blog, FAQs, and Contact. They fit nicely and simply across the top menu. 2. You don’t have to make the top menu items clickable. This is a change in my opinion from years ago. I think people used to expect the menu items to be clickable. Now all you need is clickable dropdown items. 3. Make your logo (generally the top left corner of every page) a link to your home page. This is still a best practice. Do it! And don’t assume people know to click the logo to get to the home page. Put a Home tab on the top navigation too – you can use an icon of a house to save space. 4. Use creative solutions to help people navigate longer pages. While anchor links are an established option for helping users navigate, there are a lot more solutions available now. For instance, use tabs on a page to allow users to choose the category of information that interests them. I will be using this option on my Testimonials page, where users can click on tabs labeled Executive, Mid-Level, Entry-Level and Admissions to see testimonials relevant to that category of service. Another option is a pop-up window that provides information without lengthening the page. I will be using this option for items like â€Å"Where our clients have been admitted.† If you do choose anchor links, these links can look like buttons. Design them to be congruent with your site design! 5. Review your site regularly for broken links and fix or delete them. And for any broken links within your own site, create a unique 404 page. This advice will never change. Constantly check for broken links! For 404, I have created a page with a Mark Twain quotation! Here are some famously creative 404 pages for your reading pleasure. 6. Give your website viewers information about how the service or product works so they are educated before they buy, and before they call you. Here’s how I’m doing it on my new site: I’m also improving the descriptions of each of my services so site visitors understand what they will be getting when they make a purchase. 7. Don’t send people away from a page if you want them to purchase something on that page. On my new website, I offer a complete â€Å"Resume and LinkedIn Success Package† (see above) that I expect to be the most common product people purchase. I also so have â€Å"a la carte† options available. But I will not mention those items until the bottom of the page. Any buttons at the top of my executive services page will keep people on the page, either with a pop-up or a link to a service on the page itself. They will have to read through my most popular items before they find other options. 8. Whenever possible, offer a main product with optional add-ons. On my â€Å"old† (current) site, I have learned, there are way too many options to choose from and people get confused as to which service is best for them. In my effort to accommodate everyone, I went a bit overboard. The new site will offer one main package with add-ons. I’m excited to have created a streamlined experience for new customers! 9. Scatter testimonials throughout your website. People want to know what other people are saying about you. Personally, even if I don’t read the testimonials on a site, I want to know they are there. Make sure if you offer different products that the ones most relevant to each product are on that product page. Also offer the opportunity for people to write reviews directly on your site! On my new site, I will have testimonials on each page as well as a full page of testimonials for anyone who wants to read more. 10. Highlight certifications, awards, and media appearances. What qualifies you to do what you do? Put it up front and center to gain credibility and trust! There are many more recommendations and best practices for websites that I haven’t covered here. I’d love to hear your comments and suggestions. And stay tuned for the launch of The Essay Expert’s new website†¦ coming soon! Category:Web Site TipsBy Brenda BernsteinMay 23, 2016

ABORTION AND EUTHANASIA Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

ABORTION AND EUTHANASIA - Essay Example There are different theories established by many philosophers about termination of pregnancy and there are different laws about terminating a pregnancy. In some countries terminating a pregnancy is illegal while in other countries it is legal (Warren, 828). There are mainly two types of beliefs about abortion and some people believe that abortion should be prohibited on moral grounds as it is like killing a person while others believe that abortion should not be prohibited as it has nothing to do with morality and it is necessary for society, sometimes, to avoid unwanted situation (Warren, 832). Those who advocate for prohibiting abortion believe that abortion is killing a fetus before birth which is an act of murder on both human and moral grounds. They are of the opinion that the abortion can only be allowed in exceptional cases like when the life of mother is at stake or the pregnancy is a result of rape or forced sex or any similar situation. Those who believe that abortion shoul d not be prohibited in case argue that besides danger to mother’s life and pregnancy as a result of rape or forced sex there are many more reasons which influence the decision of abortion. Sometimes women conceive due to failure of contraceptive measures and they are either not ready or not capable of bringing up a child and birth of a child can be a burden on them. On other occasions the woman who has conceived can be poor, disabled, under-age or unmarried and is not able to bring up a child. In those circumstances, if she is prohibited for abortion it becomes a burden for her whole life. They also reason it as it should be the discretion of the woman to decide about her life and the baby. The fetus cannot be considered as a person as it does not have any characteristics of personhood such as sentience, emotion, reasoning, communication capability, self awareness and morality. Similarly, they cannot be considered as a human being as they don’t have any characteristics of a human (Warren, 833). Moreover, the galloping population of the world can also be controlled to some extent by legalizing abortion because in the countries where abortion is not legalized people have to bear the burden of unwanted children which become a burden on humanity in many cases. Therefore, abortion must be legalized all across the world to reduce not only the burden on women but also on humanity. Abortions can be controlled and late abortions should be avoided unless it is not very essential and danger to life of the mother. An Argument that Abortion is Wrong - Don Marquis Abortion is term which people neither wish to think nor discuss about it, but it does not undermine the importance of the fact. By not thinking or discussing the horrible reality of abortion cannot be avoided. There is a mixed response about this overwhelming reality and some people think that abortion is a ground reality and essential for human society while others think that abortion is a violent a ct of killing an unborn baby and this act is neither human nor moral. Those who oppose abortion describe it and act of dismembering or tearing apart or vacuuming out a baby from its mother without any anesthesia. They further describe it as a crueler act when it is a partial birth or near-term abortion, when the baby is pulled out by plunging with a sharp object or vacuuming it completely. Though this is a horrible subject to think about it is necessary to discuss about it (Marquis, 839). Those who support abortion reason out that it is necessary for women who conceived without making a choice for it due to rape or failure of contraceptives and are not able to take care of the baby for

Paper Entrepreneurialism and Enrons Collapse Essay

Paper Entrepreneurialism and Enrons Collapse - Essay Example A critical analysis of each has been conducted in this assignment to explain how cases like Enron exist and how lay people do not seem to realize the issues in such companies before hand. Reich argues in his article, Paper Entrepreneurialism that accountants and financial experts are particularly trained to manipulate books and numbers. As a result, they have a number of innovative schemes through which an organization can stand to gain through various means. Such paper entrepreneurs manage finances through the usage of paperwork, like establishing holding companies and joint ventures, conducting spinoffs or divestitures, developing mutual funds or conducting exercises that hide realities of the organization under the paperwork and the numbers. Reich suggests that there are other types of entrepreneurs as well which he terms as product entrepreneurs. He believes that these entrepreneurs are developers of products and services that people may want or need. They are innovators of products, and sell such to the consumers. He states that economy has a need for both of them but because paper entrepreneurialism is on the rise, it is expected that organizations will manage to cook up financial gains when competition has become increasingly strong, particularly due to globalization. (Reich) Salter states that Enron is a classic example of deceit and corruption where most of the stakeholders focused on personal gains rather than the organizational gains because of which the shareholders suffered. The problems were deep rooted in ethical and administrative failures, along with lack of corporate governance. As a result, when financial incentives are part of the executives and the board, ethical discipline will definitely be lacking within an organization which was the case in Enron. In such a scenario, Salter explains that corporate governance failure was the key reason why Enron failed and this is the primary way an organization can avoid such a scenario.

Compare and contrast how the two short story writers use the theme of revenge Essay Example for Free

Compare and contrast how the two short story writers use the theme of revenge Essay The two writers Isabel Allende and Guy de Maupassant both use the theme of revenge in many ways in their short stories The school teachers guest and Vendetta. Vendettas key theme appears to be revenge because of the title, the word Vendetta meaning A bitter, destructive feud. Where as The school teachers guest seems, from its title, to be a pleasant story about a school teachers guest. The opening paragraphs of the stories are also different. The school teachers guest introduces the murder straight away by the schoolteacher Ines entering the pearl of the Orient and announcing to the character Turk that she had just cut off the head of one of her guests, Allende then goes back to explain why this happened. This is different in Vendetta as the murder does not happen until the very end and it isnt until the middle of the story that we learn who the vendetta is for. The revenge in Vendetta is also build up in a different way by setting a depressing scene and working gradually into the sons murder and the widows grieving. It also builds up the widow training the dog Sà ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½millante to kill. This is different in the school teachers guest, as the murder is announced at the beginning, there is no build up and the killing of the man is more of an act of fate. The reason for the act of revenge is also described more thoroughly in the school teachers guest. The accidental murder of Iness son is told in lines 24-35 in great detail using phrases such as drilling a black hole in the middle of his forehead through which his life rapidly escaped. In Vendetta, Maupassant simply states one evening, Antoine Saverini was treacherously stabbed in a quarrel by Nicolas Ravolati, who escaped that same night to Sardinia. This is a much shorted but not as thorough way to describe the main reason for the climax of the story. One thing similar between the two stories is the scene in the aftermath of the sons murder being described in great detail, although in the school teachers guest the act of revenge is almost committed by the towns people rather than swore by the victims mother. The aftermath in the school teachers guest is also more of a community parade, throwing mangoes and marching rather than weeping by the dead boys bedside as the widow does in Vendetta. We are also told more about the murder despite not knowing his name. We know that he is a truck driver and an outsider of Agua Santa. In Vendetta we know nothing of Nicolas Ravolati but his name which does not give him much character to hold a vendetta against. Both Maupassant and Allende use revenge in different ways in their short stories but Allende describes the characters and the reasons for revenge more thoroughly even if she doesnt set the scene as well. In this way I found the school teachers guest used revenge in better and more high-quality ways.

Macbeths Mistakes in Shakespeares Macbeth Essays -- essays research

Macbeth’s Mistakes At times man is prone to call into states of disillusionment, whether it be their own fault, or that of others, and this may cause them to commit grievous errors. The character of Macbeth suffers from a delusional view of the world. The diluted ways in which he interprets many of the prophecies foretold by the witches brings forth a detrimental effect upon many of his peers and acquaintances and leads him to execute grave mistakes. It is Macbeth’s choice to interpret things in a more literal meaning, rather than a prophetic one, that becomes the downfall of many characters in the story. The meddlesome witches can not be left dry of blame, for it was their prophetic truths that led Macbeth to take such a literal stance on all of the forthcoming prophecies. â€Å"Men at times are masters of their own fates: the fault is not in the stars, but in ourselves.† It is however Macbeth at fault for pushing the prophecies further than fate would take them. At first encounter with the witches, Macbeth is foretold three prophecies. The witches call him Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, and king hereafter. Macbeth at first dismisses the prophecies as fantastical. Then thoughts of the greater power seep into Macbeth’s mind. The â€Å"fiends that lie like truth† (Shakespeare) encourage Macbeth’s malice thinking by foretelling the truth that Macbeth does indeed become Thane of Cawdor without any extra effort on his part. Banquo, although at first charmed by the witch’s prophecy for him, tends to eventually dismiss it as a trick by the witches. â€Å"To win us to our harm, the instruments of darkness tell us truths, win us with honest trifles, to betrays in deepest consequence,† (Shakespeare) Once Macbeth has been named Th... ...y Macbeth, many of Macbeth’s mistakes led him into a delusional state of mind which in turn directed him to commit heinous murders against many characters, including his best friend and his cousin and king. It is evident that Macbeth’s main mistake was taking the witches’ prophecies to literal and listening too closely to his wife. Instead of letting fate run its course, he took it into his own hands, and lost sight of reality on the way. Lady Macbeth also played a big role in his mistakes, because he let him manipulate and persuade him to perform these atrocious tasks all in order to gain power. Works Cited Boyce, Charles. Should There Be a Ban on Cell Phones While Driving?

Should there be a ban on cell phones while driving? Over the past decade, the technology of cell phones has progressed tremendously. With this technology, people can now make phone calls, text, check their e-mail, and surf the net. More than ever people are using their cell phones while driving; this has caused an increase in the amount of deaths caused by distracted drivers to increase tremendously. Many states have placed a ban on the use of cell phones while driving; some states will allow people to talk on phone if they are using a hands-free device. Many states have placed bans the use of cellphones for bus drivers and teens. Florida, however, does not have any bans on the use of cell phones while driving. The National Safety Board is trying to place a ban on all cell phones while driving in every state. Many people say that they do not want a ban on cell phones. People believe, that it’s not just a cell phone that causes distractions that cause accidents it’s also eating, putting on makeup, etc. ; therefore if there is a ban placed on cell phones while driving, so should the other things that cause distractions..New data from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that, â€Å"The updated assessment estimates that at least 23 percent of all traffic crashes – or at least 1. 3 million crashes – involve cell phone use per year†. There are many deaths every day, caused from distracted drivers using their cell phones while driving; a ban on cell phones would be a good starting point to help put an end to the unnecessary deaths, caused by cell phone distracted drivers.

Our writers will create an original "Mood Disorders: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment" essay for you Create order As such, working with the public includes many avenues to navigate because each person is a unique pathway. Psychology can help us better traverse these pathways with more resiliency. One issue that many dental hygienists may come across in his or her career are people with mood disorders. Mood disorders may include: major depressive disorder, mania, or bipolar disorder. Knowing the causes, symptoms, and treatments of these disorders can help any working professional give adequate care and can ensure that the patient will come back for another visit to maintain their health. Mood disorders are a mixed group of mental complexions characterized by extreme exaggeration and disturbance of mood. Major depression and other mood disorders, such as bipolar depression, can heavily affect a patients dental health. The drugs used to treat these conditions can have significant side effects that dentists and dental hygienists should be aware of when treating a patient with such diagnosis. The dentist or dental hygienist should refer patients found with signs and symptoms of mood disorders for medical evaluation and treatment (Little, 2004). The most common diagnosis of mood disorders is what is called major depressive disorder. Major depressive disorders are diseases which are simply referred to as depression and represent a class of mood disorders. One of the main and more popular symptoms of people with depression is the lack of social activities, however, some patients with major depressive disorders can manifest common physical symptoms ranging from digestive and circulatory problems to libido and even respiratory issues. This lack of social interaction also leads itself to lack of personal care resulting in poor oral health care. The causes of mood disorders may exist from chemical imbalances in the brain due to genetic factors but could also stem from prescribed medication like the drug Reserpine (Yamada, Patent Issued for Therapeutic Agent for Mood Disorders, 2016). People with major depressive disorder feel extremely useless, worthless, and lonely making it hard for them to function normally, and studies have shown that women are twice as likely to suffer from depression. The reason for this is not quite agreed upon. Some believe that it is because women undergo more stress than men in areas of inequality in the workplace, abuse, and unhappiness in marriage. It is also noted that men more often turn to drugs or alcohol to cope with stress whereas women develop depression to deal with stress (Feldman, 2018). Mood disorders are estimated to be one of the most serious causes of ill health in the general public. According to the National Comorbidity Survey, depression affects at least one-sixth of the population with the prevalence of major depression as the most common disorder. Although studies claim that one-sixth of the population has depression, many people with depression suffer without being diagnosed or medicated. Statistically, only a small amount of people actively seek treatment (Patel, 2004). With that said, it can be assumed that many dental patients could be dealing with depression. Some common symptoms of depression include: fatigue, lack of energy, trouble sleeping, trouble concentrating, loss of appetite, or pains that will not go away. As a dental hygienist it may be hard to spot these types of symptoms, but one important part of being a dental hygienist is to get to know your patients through rapport. Simple conversations with them before a cleaning may eventually open th em up to deeper, more personal conversations, and as a trained professional it is up to you to recognize these certain signs (Watson, 2015). One simple way to get a patient to open up is to ask questions. Ask questions that should have a positive answer such as, Seen any good movies lately? Any questions that normally require a positive response is a great way to gauge your patients mood. Try asking more than one and if all answers are responded to with negativity then it is time to really start paying attention (Melinda Smith, 2018). Also, for many people who suffer from mood disorders, the side effects of medication results in xerostomia (dry mouth), which can further exaggerate the severity of many oral diseases. With dry mouth the reduction of saliva can increase the degree of dental deteriorations, mucosal dryness, and dysphagia (difficulty swallowing). The result of dry mouth might also lead to a higher number of cavities because many will resort to candy or sugary beverages for lubrication. Dry mouth coupled with caffeine or smoking may also lead to yeast infections, fissuring of the oral commissures, and even trouble speaking (Clark, 2003). These are all physical signs to be a ware of while examining the public. Being a dental hygienist, you should use reassurance, motivation, and your knowledge of education about improving dental health to enhance the sense of identity and self-esteem for patients with mood disorders. Using positivity and knowledge of patient care will contribute in some way to their psychological rehabilitation. Also, as a dental hygienist, it is part of your job to detail treatment planning that encompasses the maintenance of oral health, as well as what preventions to take to avoid oral diseases. However, before prescribing any treatment, it is imperative to consult with the patients primary doctor to confirm with or update any new information about medications that the patient might be taking. It is also important to note that patients with mood disorders may be uncooperative for even simple routine procedures. When a person is going through a depressive episode, they may not be aware of their lack of personal hygiene; showers may not be taken, teeth may not get brushed , and clothes may not be washed. These episodes tend to lead to more problems with cavities or periodontal issues. Contrastingly so, during manic periods (opposite of the depressed state) a result in an extreme use of teeth cleaning and over flossing may be associated with an increase in oral abrasions, as well as mucosal or gingival lacerations (Clark, 2003).
